Stuart Clayton, Head of Education

Stuart Clayton, originally from northeast England, started his journey with David Leadbetter’s academies in Austria back in 1999. After becoming LGA certified, Stuart moved on to become the Director of the academy. Currently, Stuart resides in St. Andrews, the only Leadbetter Instructor to reside at The Home of Golf.

Years later, he began working for Leadbetter’s junior golf academy located in Bradenton, FL. While in Bradenton, he assumed two roles: coaching high school students and directing instructor training. He developed a holistic coaching framework that ensured all coaches at the Bradenton academy maintained the highest standards.

Adding to his impressive resume, he further developed his skills by assuming a position with the Scottish Golf Association as the Director of Performance. During this time he was fortunate enough to see players achieve Walker cup status, win at international level in the amateur game, qualify for The Open Championship and gain European, LET, LPGA and Challenge and European Tours.

Clayton was awarded Golf Digest’s Best international Teacher Award in 2020 for his contributions to the sport. He holds many certifications including Trackman, KVest, SAM PuttLab, SuperSpeed

Stuart has always been passionate about learning, developing and helping players and coaches in the game of golf and is looking forward to assuming his role as the Head of Education for The Leadbetter Golf Academies. He currently works with Catriona Matthew, LPGA player, Solheim Cup Captain & Major winner, as well as collegiate players and elite levels amateurs.
