Sherry took up the game of golf at the age of 16 and quickly demonstrated considerable talent for the game. She was 1st runner up in the Guang Dong Ericsson Amateur Golf Championship in March 2003 and Winner of the Shenzhen Amateur golf championship in January 2003. Sherry joined the Mission Hills Golf Academy in 2001 at the same time as joining the Mission Hills Amateur Golf Team. Having successfully passed the China PGA Test in 2004 she is now teaching in David Leadbetter Golf Academy at Mission Hills Resort.
