Paul Hoad is originally from Hertfordshire, in the UK. Paul has played golf since 1966; giving him a wealth of golfing experience. In 1974, Paul represented the England Boys team, playing alongside Sandy Lyle and Nick Faldo. He later went on towards a successful professional career, playing on both the European and Japanese PGA Tours. He was the best 1st year professional on European Tour in 1980 voted "Rookie of the Year" by Sir Henry Cotton. In 1990 Paul become the first Englishman to qualify and play on the Japanese Tour.

In 1997, Paul decided to switch his talents to teaching, when he joined the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. He has since worked as the Academy Director in both Japan and England. In May of 2005; he joined Mission Hills Resort as Director with David Leadbetter Golf Academy.
