James Jewell - Instructor Born in Surrey and educated at New College School, Oxford, and Reading Grammar School in Berkshire, James graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2006 with a BA Hons degree in Applied Golf Management. Interested in golf from an early age, James started competitive golf at the age of ten. As a Junior Captain he excelled at both County and Regional events, reducing his handicap to 3 by the age of 16. During his time at University James was elected President of the Student Committee, and studied golf-related sports science, physiotherapy, coaching, psychology, business management, finance, human resources, event management, and materials science. Prior to his move to DLGA Austria in 2008 James held the position of Golf Manager at Dainton Park, Devon following invaluable experience with employment at two prestigious members clubs in the UK, Bearwood Lakes and Trevose Golf and Country Club. In 2007, James achieved full PGA status and has developed a sound knowledge of all encompassing aspects of the game. The mechanics of the golf swing has always been James’ passion, and having gained experienced in different areas of the golf industry, he has now turned his full attention to coaching. Honoured to be part of the David Leadbetter instructor network, James possesses a scientific brain that only increases his enthusiasm for David’s technical approach and meticulous attention to detail.
